Disable Preview Pane

I have read previous posts that claim you can disable the Preview Pane in Outlook via Group Policies, using the Outlook ADM template in the Office Resource Kit

However, the only options there are
-Mark messages as read in preview windo
-Wait xxx seconds before marking items as rea
-Mark item as read when selection change
-Single key reading using spaceba

There are no options for disabling the Preview Pane itself.

I have created an adm template for use with NT, which worked (using HKL
Software\Classes\CLSID\{0020D75......}\shell\open\command key). This did not work with Group Policies; in fact the category appeared, but the Policy did not, in the GPO editor. I believe that this is because the KEYNAME must point to one of the "Policies" paths

Any suggestions how I might use group policies for this

Thank

In Group Policy in Windows 2000 there is an option to disable the Preview Pane. It is under User Configuration | Administrative Templates | Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 | Other.

Whether it works or not not sure. My little test seems to imply it does. But I have cheched or unchecked as the case may be every iota of anything that has to do with Preview Pane. So that might be why a new folder added does not default to the Preview Pane stuff here.

George, thanks for responding. Unfortunately, if you look at the adm
template, there is no code for disabling the Preview Pane - it is just
disabling the Policy, which only contains 4 Parts (none of which is
disabling the Pane itself).

I have tested, and Disabling actually disables those Parts (listed below),
but not the Pane.

I guess the real question, is why the GP editor will not display Policies
with Keynames in the Classes key.

But thanks.
