I installed msn messenger on my pc for my daughter. Unfortunately
it seems to be causing another program to crash. Can I disable it
for all other users? I am also trying to cut down the number of
processes running in the background, as I use some music editing
software that is quite processor intensive. Installing msn
messenger has slightly undermined my efforts.
Why not uninstall it thru add/remove...Or,leave installed, open msn
messenger, options tab, uncheck the box "allow to run in the
background" uncheck "load on windows start-up"....
My daughter wants to use it. If possible, I would like it to be
active only for her and no other users.
I can't find these options.
By the way, I have just noticed that this program is called
"Windows Live Messenger" rather than "MSN Messenger". I presume it
is the same thing though.
It is in the Tools menu.Click on the first button on the top right
for the menu options to come out.
Menus > Tools > Options > General > UNTICK Automatically run... > OK
I found this, but thanks anyway. Is it possible to stop it running
in the background for me while retaining it for my daughter?
The settings, AFAIK, are 'per user account' for MSN messenger.
If you - logged in as your user account - open MSN Messenger and change the
settings inside MSN Messenger to not load when you log in - it won't load
when *you* log in. (Tools --> Options --> General -> Automatically run
Windows Live Messenger when I log on to Windows *and* Allow automatic sign
in when connected to the Internet. Checked for your Daughter's logon user
account, unchecked for your logon user account.)
Good Luck!
