Disable domain controller?

E

Eric Scott

I have a friend who's an IT Tech; He got Windows Server
2003 and gave me Windows Server 2000, Exchange 2000, SQL
Server, etc, so I could learn with them. He started
helping me install Active directory and stuff, to help me
get set up and learn how to run a domain on my home
network. No the domain is half set up, but I don't know
how to set it up all the way. How do I disable to domain
and get back to a workgroup until I learn more about
running a domain? The workgroup helps my family out with
multiple internet access points, etc.
Windows tells me I can't be part of a workgroup
because I'm a domain controller, but I don't know how to
stop being a domain controller!
Any help?
Thanx,
ES

Log on to the Domain controller as an administrator. Open
a command prompt and run DCPROMO This will demote the
domain controller down to a server and then you should be
able to place it in a workgroup.

First shut it all down and get your licensing issues straightened out. You have just implicated you and your friend in
some fairly serious crap.
