Disable Cut & Paste (Clipboard)

I'm in a school division which uses MS Word 2000 for
typing exercises in the Keyboarding Class. The students
are consistently using cut and paste to copy multiple
lines of text that they SHOULD be typing. They are
graded on speed and accuracy and of course cut and paste
gives them STELLAR speed and accuracy.

I need to disable copy and paste (cut and paste)

Help!!!

Ironic when a previous post bewailed the loss of Cut & Paste!

I don't think that Knowledge Base fix will do what you want Bart (although
I'll remember it if I'm ever unlucky enough to have to switch to Office 2K
or upwards). I think that this only stops that annoying clipboard popping up
and covering half your work
when you have copied more than one item onto it.

As far as I can see, there seems to be only a couple of options open to you.
You can't disable cut and paste in a document itself nor does it seem
possible to disable it at program level (without a virus infection).

If you have some experience with VBA you could put several textboxes in a
Word User form using the BeforeDropAndPaste event coded with Cancel = True
but that
would really limit the sort of formatting you could use since the text box
is
plain text only and demands that to start a new line you have to use Shift
and Enter instead of Enter.
However if you really only wanted a typing exercise that repeated a single
line or paragraph, a thus coded user form could let you use one button to
record the current time and then print the exact time that a student
finished the test - he would press a button when he had finished, which
would record his time and disable his form to prevent his entering any more
text.

But wouldn't it be better for your school to invest in some
typing tutor software which would do all sorts of neat extras like keeping
records and working out words per minute. I see that Ebay are selling off
loads of copies of Mavis Beacon at less that £10 each.
