Directx9.0 Troubles

I recently downloaded a updated driver for a Genforce 5200 video card and
immediately began having problems with it. I reinstalled the old driver, the
program, and reinstalled directx 9.0, however, now I am getting messages that
the program cannot "find" the directx. Can anyone help? Any help would be
much appreciated, as I am becoming quite frustrated.
 
Are you trying "click start - run - type directx"? If so you should type
"dxdiag" without quotes. If you get this error when you try to play games.
You should reinstall DirectX 9.0c
