I cannot access anything to do with MSN/Passport. From
all the knowledge base articles I read, it seems it may
be an ActiveX controls problem (?) Anyway, I've tried all
the fixes I could find, deleting and reinstalling files.
I get the logo error when I try to download DirectX, and
I have tried Kelley's Korner fix for this, but it still
doesn't recognize it. I have an OEM system, so I don't
have a disk to reinstall WinXP. Also, I cannot fix IE6,
keep getting a message that says newest version already
loaded.

First, your OEM system must come with some means of restoring your original
setup. If you don't have a disk, they still must give you a means of
recovery, check your documentation. Usually, if no disk is provided, the
recovery files are stored on a hidden partition on your hard drive.

As to your issue, do you have any security software installed, firewall,
antivirus, popup stoppers, etc. Try disabling them one at a time, turn them
off so they don't load at startup, then reboot and see if you can then
access the sites. If you are able to access after disabling one of the
applications, you will know the source. Then, you will need to go through
the options and see which item the application is blocking that is causing
this to happen.
