Right-click on your Desktop and select:
Properties > Settings > Advanced > Troubleshoot
and slide the Hardware acceleration all the way
to "full" and click apply.

What are the specs on the display adapter? While it may support direct draw
and textures, it may not support acceleration (high performance) settings.
You've got a more than healthy CPU on the system but display results will
still be governed by the capabilities of the display hardware.

The 865G graphics core should work just fine at maximum acceleration - I
have an 865G-based system here and it plays DX8/DX9 games just fine, albeit
somewhat slowly. Still faster than most other integrated graphics solutions,
though.

The Hardware Acceleration is "full". I've hooked up a different HDD and ran the Disk Recovery CD's and all DirectX functions are available, but Directx on my original HDD with WinXP is not working. I believe there must be something else in the O/S thats causing my problem. Note: I've also reverted back to Directx 8 and the DirectDraw Acceleration & AGP Texture Acceleration are still "Not Available". (I really don't want to rebuild system from scratch, but if no solutions is found then I'll have to). My only other choice may be to take the different HDD that works and start to reinstall all my apps and updates to see if I can duplicate the problem.

Todd, did you try the DirectX troubleshooters available in the DXdiag
screens yet? May also want to review the notations in these screens that
summarize the presence of files and the installed version. You might want
to try renaming any files that have comments other than "OK." Then
reinstalling DirectX.

Another thought: The drivers for my display adapter have additional
settings in Display> Settings> Advanced for texturizing and the like. There
is also a place to setup preferences for Direct3D and OpenGL. If available
on your system, you may want to do some exploring in these advanced
settings to see if anything was accidentally switched off in that area.

Yes, I've run through the "dxdiag" program many times trying to resolve
the problem. There is no problems with the "DirectX Files". I've run
the troubleshooting wizard, but no help!!! I've also checked the
Advanced Display properties and checked everything I can think of. Yes,
there are advanced settings for the adapter also and I've compared the
settings with a duplicate system that works and everything is exactly
the same. I've already tried to uninstall and reinstall DirectX but this
does not help.

Todd, it sounds like you've done everything possible on your end to work
through this issue. The next step would be contacting tech support for the
hardware involved.
