the whole reason i was trying to install directx was for a game, and the game
wont install because it says i dont have 9.0c or higher, but im going to try
and install sp2, will the problem have anything to do with when i open up the
dxdiag, it says the DX version isnt found?

i just found out that i already have the SP2 installed but my dx diagnostic
tool says that the DX version is "not found", so i dont know how to make it
find it!?!

If you don't already have WinXP SP2 then you certainly should install it. It may just
resolve your issue as well.

It sounds like DirectX is totally corrupted/damaged.

You may want to try "Thee Chicago Wolf" suggestion of installing the redistributable.
Hopefully it will work and not come back as it is already installed.

If you don't have a kosher version of Windows XP SP2, that is your answer.

John.
