This error message means that your video card doesn't meet the minimum
system requirements for the game (or the game thinks it doesn't). To
find out what video card you have, you can either go to the Display
applet in Control Panel and click on the Adapter tab or look under the
Display Adapters category in Device Manager (System applet in Control
Panel).

Then either look on the game box or go to the game's website and check
the system requirements. If you are trying to play a modern,
graphics-intensive game like Battlefield 2 or Doom 3 on an older video
card or a computer with onboard graphics (built into the motherboard),
you're not going to be able to do that.

If your video card does meet the game's system requirements, then get
the latest drivers from the video card mftr.'s website.

I guess that the installer for the game won't complete the installation
unless it finds DirectX 9.0c compatible drivers.

What's the game? What do you know about your PC?

Check the System Requirements for the game, if you still have the box or
manual. Most makers list minimum and recommended requirements to run a game.
If you have no documentation, some games have online support that would
include hardware requirements.

To see what graphics adapter (video card) you have, go into the Display
control panel, Settings tab, Advanced button, Adapter tab.

You can also download and install the free version of SiSoft Sandra, which
can tell you more than you probably wish to know about your system.

Once you've identified the graphics adapter, check the manufacturer's web
site (Google would help). Or, post it here, and you will probably get more
useful help.

Address scrambled. Replace nkbob with bobkn.

This is a common built-in graphics adaptor. It is just for lighting the
display. It is by NO means a gaming chip. I'd suggest buying an AGP
graphics card if your computer has an AGP slot (most machines in your
class do), or failing that, you can still get pretty decent cards in
PCI.

Most of the time the presence of an external card will automaticly
disable the built in one.

That being said. This is the Game compatibliliy list for that chip.

This is the latest (last) driver for it. I know it says intel 815, it's
the right one.

This means your display adapter is built into the motherboard. This is
not a gaming computer. You didn't say what game you're trying to play
or really tell us anything about your computer so I can't tell you if
your computer is even upgradeable.

You might want to take it to a local professional, tell them what you'd
like to play/do, and see what they say. Some computers are easily
upgradeable by buying a new video card; some really cheap older ones
don't even have an AGP slot which effectively means you're stuck with
onboard video since PCI isn't any better.
