DirectX 9.0b and Warcraft III:TFT

I have been having problems playing games that require
DirectX 8. I have gotten the most recent BIOS for my
board (ASUS P4S8X), most recent drivers for my video card
(ATI Radeon 9000 Pro), and the most recent patches for
the game (Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne). When I play
the game, it runs fine for a while. Then randomly, the
game crashes either by "Fatal Error" and closes or
by "Blue Screen" which does a memory dump and gives a
different error each time. Has anyone else had issues
like this? I think you should be able to roll-back to
DirectX 8 or maybe a new fix? Can someone help me?

I had already installed 9.0b a while ago. I was not aware
that I was going to have these problems, otherwise I
wouldn't have installed it.

Yves is correct as the chipset drivers could be paramount to fixing the
problem. In addition, should that fail reinstall your video drivers. Please
also perform a diagnostic of the Direct X to see if all is well. To do this
click START, RUN, type DXDIAG and click OK.
