Attempting to directly connect two PC's, one with XP MC and one with
W98, and need to directly connect them using a crossover cable. I've
adjusted the firewall and security settings to allow
Computer-to-computer connections, and the XP machine recognizes the
connections but displays a "Limited or No Connectivity" message.

Any help will be appreciated.

Michael,

If the computers recognise the connections, that's half the battle.

The "Limited or No Connectivity" message is normal in your case.

Check out "ipconfig /all" from both computers.

Great tips. Turns out it was a network naming issue, but the limited
connectivity thing has always stumped me.

Now I can share files, is there any way to share the internet
connection(the XP machine is on a wireless LAN) with the W98 pc?
Thanks.

Michael,

To share Internet service, you'll use ICS. ICS should work, subject to some
limitations.

You just need to follow instructions for sharing service between 2 computers,
using a cross-over cable. Understand the limitations though.

Run the Network Setup Wizard on the Windows XP computer, and select:
This computer connects directly to the Internet. The other computers on my
network connect to the Internet through this computer.

If you can now share files, the Windows 98 computer should have its DHCP client
active. When ICS is running on the Windows XP computer, that should take care
of it.

If you have problems, look at "ipconfig /all" from each computer.
