DIRECT X PROBLEMS loading ?

Trying to download direct x to run cakewalk product but
although saving it to c drive and then opening it it does
not seem to stay on the drive.. Only programme I have
problem with. Does anyone know of similar problems or how
to get it on to my PC...... thanks
