Direct connection

Yesterday the window for direct connection popped up on my screen about three
times and I ignored it, then I decided to restart my computer and my internet
completely stopped working. Someone else tried to fix it and it worked but
they have no idea what they did, and when I turned my computer back on this
morning it stopped working again and it keeps prompting me about direct
connection (which is not how I normally connect to the internet.) This is a
personal hosted desktop computer; the main host computer's internet works
perfectly fine, and so does my wireless internet. I'm not sure as how to get
my internet working again.

Sometimes making things ignore is not a good solution. Well, what is it
asking? What is the question it asks about direct connection? Actually cannot
think of why without knowing the problem and what is the "Direct connection
popped up" What is the message it gave to you?
