i have a 9-25 serial cable and i was just wandering if it would work if i
were to plug one side into a computers serial port and plug the other side in

Hi.
Direct connect has to be Serial to serial, and or parallel to parallel.
In each case a special cable is needed the regular parallel or serial cable
will not work.
If you need to buy one you are probably better off buying two inexpensive
Network Cards.
