digital photo problem

I'm a "silver surfer" struggling somewhat with this new technology. At
first the computer would detect my most recent pictures and only import
those, but now it wants to duplicate everything. I haven't been deleting
pictures from my camera, but can't believe that this the problem Any
suggestions?
