Digital imaging-downloading images

When using Windows XP home software I can transfer images
from my Sony Digital camera to "My Pictures" by using
the "Scanner and Camera Wizzard" in the Home software. My
new PC has Windows XP professional and it does not
recognize my camera, as the home edition does, and I
cannot transfer pictures. Has anyone experienced this
problem and devised a method to download images from
their Sony cameras to "My Pictures" in XP Professional?

most likely you will need to go to Sony's web site and find the driver for
your camera. After running the install program then the re-connect the
camera and you should be fine.

How did you install the camera on the XP Pro? Did you use the automati
"plug&play" feature or the accompanying installation disk?

XP Home and Pro are just the same in this regard, so if you followed the
same method as you used on Home to install the camera, it is probable
that something has been disabled. Go to Control Panel - Admin Tools -
Services, look for Windows Image Acquisition, and if it does not say
'Started' double click it and set Startup type to Automatic. Click
Apply, then click Start

Have you been to Windows Update yet? Check the "recommended updates." There
were one or two that installed support for additional devices. Can't
remember if they were pre-SP1 or post. Regardless, if there are any that
apply to your system, Windows update will show them to you.
