- Lossless rotating and flipping
(automatic if supported by camera)
- Link to up to ten external image editors

If you have WinXP, the Camera & scanner wizard is as good as anything,
otherwise Irfanview.

Irfan View is nearly always the way to go, however in this case, some
cameras are not Twain compatible, and will not show up as a Twain
Device therefore.
To make matters worse, even with the proprietary software that comes
with some cameras to create a virtual drive whenever they are plugged
into the usb port, Window 98 will sometimes not pick this up.
Having tried a few of the so called auto detecting video editing
packages, I found the easiest way is with Servant Salamander , my
favorite dual pane file manager. I have tested several other
freeware versions of dual pane file managers to good effect, but
forget which exactly. Your operating system and mileage may differ.

Plug in Camera. Windows XP Camera wizard pops up and you tell it where
you want them putting.

If you have xp, and the camera shows up as another drive, simply right
click on it, properties and go from there.

I have mine configured to automatically download to a nominated folder
and then place all the photos and videos into a subfolder that has the
date as the name.

Windows XP is GREAT for this. Windows ME is fair.
