Difinitive answer to disabled task manager

Hi guys..

I have trawled through this newsgroup about the repeated problem I have with
Task Manager being disabled.

I have read in most posts that this is 'usually caused by a virus/malware
infection'.

The only problem I've got is that my AV package and Spybot say that my
system is 100% clean. No-one has, as yet, stated which virus or malware can
cause this problem, the advice has always been to downoad a tweek that alters
the registry settings to re-enable task manager.

I use a tweek I have downloaded to reactivate task manager but the problem
keeps coming back.

Surely if this has been identified as 'a virus or malware' problem, there
must be a way of tackling the problem at its root, not just papering over it
with a registry tweek.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Cheers.. :)

It depends on what is causing taskmgr.exe to be disabled. What error
messages you get, if any. Usually if it's a virus, taskmgr.exe just flashes
and quits with no error messages.

Have you turned off System Restore and then reenabled it? Do that before
you run Virus/Malware Scan..
