Diffrent users desktops

As a recent buyer of Windows XP Home, I was looking
forward to having "administrator" role over my families
other desktops...

So is it me or am I doing something wrong??

Having set up myself as admin, and my partner as Limited,
I find that each time I load a new program that icons
appear on both desktops??
My partner cannot delete them from her desktop, as a
message reads "cannot delete etc"

I then have to revert back to my desktop, delete shortcut
from my desktop, revert back to partners desktop, delete
shortcut from hers before finally reverting back to mine
to place a shortcut back on my desktop...

This then does not place a shortcut on my partners
desktop.
It appears that shortcuts appear on both desktops when
new programs are loaded by me, the admin'...

Now I cannot buy and load any software (games for
example) without my partner knowing, unless I go through
the switch delete switch delete, switch place shortcut
cycle as described above....


So, how do I stop such things happenning???

Hope you understand my problem, and please Im not over
knowledgable, so answers fairly simple please??

Programs like to place their icons in documents and settings|all
users|desktop. If you want an icon to show only on your desktop, make sure
you move it from that folder into documents and settings|<your user
name>|desktop.

forget all those user stuff...one user...admin...and trust the others...
