Difficulty opening email

A pretty dumb question but I'm stumped. I am using Vista. My Windows mail
screen opens normally but when I double click to open a message, that screen
opens with only half the message visible with the rest offscreen to the left.
Unable to drag screen to the right. Readable if I maximize message. Can
anyone help?
