differenticating XP from XPe

Guest

I've got a product that I'm trying to determine if XP or XPe is loaded on and
I'm not familiar with XPe.

Is there a simple way to tell which is loaded ? Does XPe have a different
splash screen or description in the system control panel saying that it is
the 'embedded' version ? Does the COA product name say embedded ?

Sorry for the newbie question, but I'm not finding great hits in my websearch.

XPe has the same splashscreen as XP.

My Computer -> (System) Properties -> General should give you the right info
('Microsoft Windows XP embedded')

You can check the version in registry under [HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows] key. "CSDVersion" and "CSDReleaseType"
values.

Execute "winver.exe" is another solution.
