XP Embedded, Need lots of HELP!!

Hi

I am a complet newbie on this XPe stuff.

I downloaded Microsoft XPE SP1 full and SP2 evaluations., but each
time I go to open up Setup.exe or whatever it either says "Please
insert XP Embedded Disk 1" when I dont have it. Do I have to write it
to a disk or something. And does XPE include its own image or do I
have to purchase Home or Pro, full or upgrade. Should ijust order the
evaluation CD or persist in this. And what would I have to have for a
Thin-Client.

Thanks

I.T. IS WHAT I DO

PS. Will XP studio support Vista or will i have to wait for Vista
Embedded.

Merci

Hey there,

XPE is a standalone OS, in which you construct a version of the OS that's
completely custom for your hardware. the host machine (your development
workstation) needs to be running at least XP in order to start the process.
It will work with Vista now too.

you will setup the tools with the XPESP1 evaluation you downloaded. this
will install the tools, a Database Engine (in XP you can use MSDE ) then it
will install the component database. once all that is complete, you then
apply the SP2 updates. Once you have all tools installed you can begin
development of the embedded OS. Once you have the embedded OS, you can
transfer it to the target machine and boot the embedded OS.

if you're still confused, contact me OL and I can recommend some resources.

Thanks JC
Yeah I tried that, on my Server, i just really want to have an Xp
embedded image so i can service remote clients. I downloaded and
installed a trial of SQL Server Enterprise and have yet to see if that
installed right. The thing is im using Windows Server 2003 Enterprise
trial, should that have any effect on the trial of XP. These are
really good trials as well. Microsoft is very happy to go with the try
before you buy option for consumers. Sorry in getting back to you so
late, been focusing on reinstalling XP MCE 2005, as that kept giving
me BSODs. Thats fixed so can devote more time to this now.

Thanks

IT IS WHAT I DO
