Did I Damage X850 Pro?

I installed a Zalman fan on my X850 Pro and hooked the fan cable in a silent
mode (5V). For some reason, the fan was not working and I didn't know that.
About a few minutes later, I realized that and hooked the fan cable in a
normal mode (12V) and the fan was working. So, my PC was running for a few
minutes with no GPU cooling. Is there a chance that I might have damaged the
X850 Pro? So far, I haven't noticed any graphical artifacts, though.

Chance? Yes. But unlikely, expecially if you really did realize it
within 5 minutes or so of turning on the computer. It takes a few
minutes for the heatsink to heat up, and actually a lot of systems can
run with just a heatsink and no fan for quite a while, or even
indefinitely. With a video card, it also depends a lot on what you were
doing ... the Windows desktop, office or web browsers don't put much
strain on video cards.

No artifacts, no damage.

Now, if you want to have some fun, splice the ground lead on the Zalman fan
to the -5V rail on the PSU, to run the fan faster at 17V. Should still be
pretty quiet.

Probably no damage. I ran the Zalman on my X800 for many hours including
gaming with an SATA cable trapped in the heatsink, stopping the fan.
Been fine every since.
