Dialog Boxes when on websites

Recently whenever I click on dialog boxes on several
different web sites - (RUN, DISPLAY, DOWNLOAD etc.) the
machine hesitates and then the white ACTION CANCELLED
page comes up. This happens under IE6, MSN8, and
Netscape so it is not a browser problem. This started
happening on Sunday, 25 APR and I have been fighting
since. I cannot use several of my favorite sites. It
must be a setting that I have inadvertently changed. It
doesnt happen on all sites but on more than a few.

I have made all suggested updates, searched for all
viruses, cleaned temporary files, changed security
settings (both increased and decreased). This is driving
me nuts. PLEASE HELP.
