dialog box sizes will not stay

I can resize a dialog box, but the next time I come back to it, it will not
have the changed size. This happens on File Open dialog boxes, etc.

Without a 3rd party program or some hacking, that's the way they work.

nope......on a different computer here in the office, they do stay changed
in size.

MS Office Open and Save As dialogs are completely different then the Windows
Open and Save As dialogs.

Windows Open and Save As dialogs only use system settings. MS Office Open
and Save As dialog boxes can be resized and they will retain the settings.
Ms Office Open and Save As dialog will also remember the View selected,
Windows Open and Save As dialogs will not. Only the sort order of Windows
Open and Save As dialogs can be changed. You can customize the Places bar
on both Windows and MS Office Open and Save As dialogs.
