Dial up window keeps popping up

I have a user that told me that the dial up window keeps
popping up on its own while they are working. I am
wondering if it is a possible virus that is trying to
access the internet for its own purpose.
Is there another possible explanation that I should be
looking at as well?

It's possible, or malware.
Is the work station hooked to a lan, or is access to the
internet only by dial up?
if the station has an NIC and is hooked to the lan, you
can mark the dial up configuration to never dial.
I would suggest you download adaware, spybot, and
cwshredder, these will scan your system for adaware/malware
make sure your AV definitions are up to date.

if these find nothing, then research hijackthis.
it requires the downloading and install and then gathering
of data of your pc and then submit the data to the proper
forum and getting a recommendation of how to deal with
whatever it finds..
