Dail-up wants to dial

I have a broadband connection and wireless network, but I also have a setup
for an academic dial-up which I use in power shortages. For the most month
or us, a box keeps popping up wanting to connect the dial up when I am
working away online. How do I get it to stop doing this - it's very
annoying.

Pretty easy really...

Open IE, click tools, click options, click connections, click never dial a
connection. When you want to dial to connect due to power outages either
connect manually or switch the setting back.

Thanks for the responses, but none of this works. "Never dial" is checked,
and wireless must be the default because it connects when the computer
boots up. The dial-up box pops up later, sometimes 2 or 3 times in a row.
Then it will periodically show up.

Check to make sure the computer is virus/malware-free since random
attempts to dial out (no matter what the default connection method is)
can mean infestation.
