dial-up network connections has a disappearing act

I was wondering if anyone has had this problem before or
could help me with it. But whenever I try to create a
new dial-up network connection using the network wizard,
it will create the connection. I can see it listed with
the other connections. However, when I restart my
computer and go back to the network connections it has
disappeared. I can still use the shortcut placed on my
desktop to this vanished connection, and connect, but if
I wish to disconnect I have to either hold the phone off
the hook or unplug the modem from the wall outlet. Any
help that can be given is greatly appreciated.

I have the EXACT same problem. I have been everywhere for
days, trying to find a fix for this. This site has given
no replies to my question, so I'll assume no one here
knows what the answer is- I am now trying US Robotics
(modem brand) in hopes that they can help. Good luck- and
if you fix it- please email me at
(e-mail address removed) - thanks.
