Dial-up Icon disappears???

Can anyone help with this? Everytime I dial in to the internet, my dial-up network icon disappears out of the network connections folder. Also, the icon does not show at the bottom of the screen showing I am connected. I have created new ones, and it happens everytime, with my being able to locate it anywhere afterwards, although if I make a shortcut on desktop I can still use it?1?

Any help would be appreciated.
