Dial-up connection

Can anyone help? I have just started using a Local Area
Connection at university. I was previously using dial-up
connection at home. The area connection works fine except
every time I open a new page on the internet my 'Dial-up
connection' window appears asking me to connect. If I
close it Internet explorer goes onto 'work offline' and
if I click it to work online it asks me to connect again.
If I ignore it and leave it in the backgound the internet
works fine but keeps opening the dial-up connection
window. Does anyone know how I can turn it off or get rid
of it?! (Windows XP). Thanks, Tom

Tom,

I had this same problem when I switched from a dial up to cable modem and
found the fix is simple.
Open your browser and go to "tools", then select "Internet Options", then
select "Connections".
Now delete the old dialup connections that appear in that box.
Close out everything, and reopen your browser.

Control Panel>Internet Options>Connections - check the box that says
"never dial a connection".
