Dial up Connection - Pinging but cannot browse

I have Windows XP Prof. on my home PC and connect through a dial up
connection. After successful connection to the ISP, I am not able to browse
the internet using Internet Explorer or Firefox, nor can I check my emails on
Outlook Express. I tried pinging some of the websites and this was
successful.
I even tried the telnet on port 25, but unsuccessful.
It looks like a firewall problem, but what should I look for.
Please help.

Actually, it sounds like your DNS isn't being properly resolved. Call
your ISP.

You could do a few things
ping 4.2.2.2 --if you get reply then ping yahoo.com --if not then the tcp
stack of your computer is bad --reinstall tcp stack

Thanks, Rohit. I will try out your method tonight.
I did try to connect the Home PC through my Laptop yesterday through
Internet sharing. Same problem, it was pinging the external website but could
not browse.

Well, I tried out the ping. Pinging on 4.2.2.2 was no problem. However, I
could not ping on yahoo.com. I also tried to reset the TCP/IP Stack. But
still not able to ping by name. Could it be a Winsock problem ?
