Hi!
I have had this problem with 2 routers alread (the above D-Link and a
Belkin). When I keep my computer sitting for 4-5 hours after an inital
restart, the connection to the internet is lost. I can restore it by
either restarting the computer or the router. I can also restore it by
manually renewing my IP. However, once it lost the connection once, it
keeps losing it during idle times of about 5 minutes, rather than the
before mentioned 4-5 hours. This does not happen if I connect directly
to the modem and kick the router out.
The router has the newest firmware available. I use standard settings.
The only "non-default" setting I use is a MAC address filter and I
limit the amount of IPs the router can give out. There is only 1
Windows XP, SP2 computer wired to the entire router. I have not
experienced loss of Wireless Connectivity, but I use it very sparingly.
I have had other people have similar problems with their routers being
unable to resolve this issue. Any help would be appreciated or any
ideas of what may cause this problem.
Thanks,
Christian
