Usually Windows works as a DHCP _Client_ and receives its IP address
from a Server located elsewhere. For this, DHCP will work fine with no
exception in the firewall.
If you are really using this machine as a Server, then most likely you
will have to provide an exception.
Thanks, John. My machine is a client. I noticed DHCP had been added to my
exceptions list after installation of a network card and cable modem several
months ago. However, following recent recovery/cleanup from a virus attack,
I discovered it was no longer in the list , although my internet connection
continues to work fine. I just wanted to make sure I could leave it out of
the list with no problems.
