I seem to have a similar problem, did you ever get resolution?

:

Who is your ISP (some require you register your NIC's MAC address)?

Make sure your DHCP client starts "automaticly" (machine, manage...).

Are you connected directly to the internet or via a router or proxy?

What ip address do you have?

Start/Run/OK
Enter ipconfig and press Enter

My ISP is a local cable company. The connection seemed to work okay in the
past. I have recently added a wireless USB receiver (Linksys) and cable
modem (Motorola).

The settings are on automatic. I connect via a cable modem which is wireless.
