WinNT4W(SP6a) PC is in a workgroup with only a WinXPP(no SP) PC.

NT PC keeps getting this popup error, yet I have a static IP address set up
in WinNT4W(SP6a). Why?

Was also getting the same error when I had the NT PC set for 'Obtain an IP
address from a DHCP server', which is recommended for workgrouping to a XP
computer. That's why I changed it to a fixed IP address.

Hmm... that's strange... You might try stopping the DHCP Client service and
see if that shuts it up... Weird tho...

Thanks. That idea had already ocurred to me before, but I was reluctant to
do it.

OK, I disabled it and that appears to have cured the problem, but you know
something in NT is still damaged.

It can't be TCP-IP protocol, because I uninstalled and reinstalled TCP-IP
(and SP6a) yet the problem remained. I surmise then that the registry is
damaged somewhere. I'd still like to be able to do a true repair. Perhaps
I'll have to do a registry restore from a registry of earlier this month.
Unfortunately I didn't save the registry immediately after upgading to
IE6/OE6.
