DHCP Allocator

Adam

Having thought that I had resolved being able to access
the workgroup I switch back to hardwired to the router
from wireless connection and it all fell to pieces.

One thing that I noticed was an warning message in
Services that....

"The DHCP allocator has disabled itself on IP address
192.168.11.4, since the IP address is outside the
192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0 scope from which addresses are
being allocated to DHCP clients. To enable the DHCP
allocator on this IP address, please change the scope to
include the IP address, or change the IP address to fall
within the scope."

Considering that I am auto assigning IP addresses and
that the router has the base address of 192.168.11.1 it
is a bit difficult to work out.

How do I change the scope of the DHCP Allocator?

The DHCP allocator is part of XP's ICS (Internet Connection Sharing)
feature. Since you have a hardwired router, you don't need ICS.
Disable ICS by un-sharing the network connection that's currently
shared.
