DFS Reconfiguration - repost in general group...

We decided to change the folder level of some DFS shares. We delected the
old share and attempted to create a new one. Now while attempting to
configure replication, we get the message:

"This target is not eligible because the folder overlaps an existing
replicated folder on that computer"

This is not true as there are no replicated folders on the machine. Hence,
there must be a database somewhere that is not properly cleared when deleting
shares. How does one edit or rebuild thie replication database?

Thanks,

Ted

Try restarting the DFS Replication service on the computer with the error.

Thanks Danny, but this did not work. I should provide more detail.

Machine 1 is running DFS and is also DC1. Replication is (was) taking place
between machine 3 and 4, members of the domain. DFS is not running on
machine 3 and 4, but starting and stopping the DFS service on machines 3 and
4 has no results.

Stopping and restarting DFS on machine 1 has no effect either. The folders
remain ineligible. I also tried restarting FRS along with DFS with the issue
remaining.

These dFS shares are not currently registered in AD.

There's more to deleting and recreating shares than is published. It would
be helpful if someone from MSFT would chime in.

Thanks,

Ted
