please help! laptop not detecting devices plugged into usb ports. universal
serial bus controllers not listed in device manager. what do i do? thanks.

thanks paul. How do i enable usb ports in bios? its a Time Notebook Model
no-755S14- apart from this info, what other info would you require. by the
way you are dealing with a layman but i always follow instructions very well.
Thanks again

The laptop manual should be able to tell you how to access the BIOS set up
screen.

Usually, during the power-on sequence, you will need to press a specific
combination of keyboard keys.

Usual key combination that is used to access the BIOS set up screen:

<Del> key
<CTRL><F2>

NOTE: Do this during the laptop power-on start. If you are not
comfortable, take it to a local computer store. They should be able to
access the BIOS for you.

Before the boot process all machines have the option to go to the system
BIOS. Some machines use the ESC key others use the Delete and some the F key
function. Usually you can see what key it is at the beginning of the POST
operation. From there you need to navigate through the pages and check to
see if your USB ports are enabled. If they are or even before you do this
check go into the Services and check to see if the "Plug and Play" service
has started.
