I formatted my HD and when it reloaded it could not find my D:/ drive. Not
the driver, it sais it cannot detect hardware (CD-DVD ROM). I opened up the
PC and every thing seems to be connected. Is there any possible solution
without getting in an over-priced technician???
Please help.
Thank you in advance.

Just a few suggestions:

Did you disturb any of the Hardware when you reformatted your HD? If you did
make sure the IDE cables are correct (slave/master etc) and make sure you
have not misaligned the IDE connector on the rear of the drive.

Did you install XP using this particular drive? If not try swapping the
drive with another - making sure your 'jumpers' are correct.

You formatted and reinstalled win, but did you install the mobo chipset and
other drivers?
or did you rely on win to do it for you with default drivers.

I have checked to make sure it was as master and windows device management
sias this:

Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot
find the hardware device. (Code 41)

It is as master, and I have checked both power supplies and they seem to be
working as it will open the tray. I even tried it as slave but still nothing.
Do you think it could be a problem within the CD-DVD ROM itself?
Thanks.
