Device Manager shows 3 monitors

Under Monitors, in Device Manager, my notebook shows:

Default Monitor
Default Monitor
Plug and Play Monitor

Tried to remove all three in Safe Mode (so that Windows would then
pick up the 1 correct monitor upon restart in "Add new Hardware"),
but Device Manager in Safe Mode shows no monitors at all, in fact,
not even the main caption "Monitors".

I then uninstalled all three monitors in Regular Mode, but after
restarting, Device Manager shows all three monitors again. "Add
new Hardware" did not come up at all during the restart.

Although this is not affecting the system (as far as I can tell),
how do you get Device Manager to show only the 1 monitor the
notebook really has?

Thanks,

George

P.S. Pls. reply in ng; e-mail address is invalid.

let me guess. you using NVIDIA Detonators/Forceware or whatever drivers??

they;re just functions of Detonator drivers, which support multiple
monitors. it's no harm...

Only one should be shown in full shading, the others are called
"Phantoms" (Devices detected, but not in the current hardware
profile). You find the active one, Right Click it, choose Update
Drive, Don't let it pick, Uncheck "Show compatible Hardware"
Scroll through the vendor list, then find your specific monitor &
update. You may need to go to the vendor's website and get the
monitor definition file for your model.

Thanks for the quick reply, D-Dawg. Since it isn't affecting
performance, I guess I'll just leave all 3 be.

yeah. unless you're one of those freaks where everything's gotta be perfect,
all aligned properly, run defrag everyday, empty recycling bin every minute,
resort start menu alphabetically, clear recently used documents list, ......
