I am having serious hadware issues. My DVD and DVD/CDRW
drives aren't working and neither is my sound card and
probably numerous other devices that I haven't been abole
to figure out yet. When I open device manager there is
nothing listed, it is completely blank. The same thing
happens when I try to view my any hardware resources and
most of my non network related components under system
information application. When I checked out my services
there were several that were disabled that I thought
should not be (e.g. Plug and Plan and Automatic Updates),
and whne I try to click on them I get the
error: "Configuration Manager: The Plug and Play service
or another required service is not available". The only
things I have done since things started not working are
defragment the hard drive and run a recent windows
update. Virus scan reveals no viruses. I tried to update
Windows but I get an error message everytime I try. There
is not anything that stands out in the event log. Any
assistance in this manner would be greatly appreciated.
