Since installing service pack 2 on a number of DEll pc's device manager does
not display any devices.

when it does display it shows a number of unkown devices

Also machines tend to lock up more oftain after SP2 has been installed

Sounds like a lot of your hardware needs new post SP2 device drivers - since
it's a Dell, I would check there 1st to see if they even recommend upgrading
it to SP2, if so, then they should have new device drivers for them.

I'm currently testing SP2 for our company. I'm seeing this same problem with
each model of computer that we use. This includes 2 models of Toshiba latops
(the Tecra M1 and M2) as well as a HP 530 desktop.

Almost always shows unknown devices -- in this case, it always shows 8
unknown devices, regardless of what model I'm working with at that time. I
have compared the devlice lists from before SP2 was installed and after SP2
was installed. All of the devices from before SP2 remain after SP2 is
installed. It's as if these unknown devices don't actually exist.

I have seen the device manager with nothing -- although it is rare compared
to the 8 unknown devices.

If I run the SP with /u switch, for unattended install, the problems always
happen. If I install the SP manually, I get the problems less frequently.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
