Hi friends

I just wanted to know if anyone has come across this issue. The device manager appears and disappears in a second. I don't have an idea if this is because of any spyware / virus or because of any system file corruption

Any ideas

Thanks a lo

Yes, this is symptomatic of virus infection. If you had been running a
current (post-2002 version) antivirus and keeping its definitions
updated, this would have been caught. Now you probably will not be able
to install an av until you've cleaned up the computer. Take the
infected computer off the Internet and any lans (if on a home network,
the other computers are probably now infected also). From a different
computer, download Stinger, a standalone av that checks for only 30+ of
the most common viruses (as opposed to 60,000+ with a standard av). You
can get Stinger here:

http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/

Run Stinger in Safe Mode, and make a note of the names of any viruses it
finds in case you need to take further cleaning actions. After you've
run Stinger, get a full-featured av program and install it.
