Device driver problems

Windows XP is driving me mad! I have a new pc which is
crashing due to a "device driver" problem. I thought this
was simply a firewall problem as ZoneAlarm was leaving
dump details regarding corrupt files in the event viewer
every time it crashed. However, I have now uninstalled
this and am still getting Windows XP crashing and
rebooting, although the event viewer now has no trace
left in it. The error report always states that it is a
device driver problem, and that is all.

I have disabled most of my hardware drivers, including my
scanner, and have no idea how to trace which device
driver it is. Any ideas?

The only error in the event viewer is a System error with
the following details :

Category : (102)
Type : Error
Event ID : 1003

Error code 10000050, parameter1 a347d3d4, parameter2
00000001, parameter3 bf87698b, parameter4 00000000.

A list of devices and drivers would help resolving this problem.

I have listed these on device manager but it is an awfully long list. Is there a way of exporting this to a file so that I can add this to a thread?

Start by disconnecting any USB devices (just unplug and reboot|) so as
to eliminate those. Then primary suspect would be the video driver
(especially if you got an update of it from Windows Update). To check
for that, Start - Run
MSConfig.exe
and on the BOOT.INI page check /BASEVIDEO and exit to reboot. If that
works, then it was the video driver (now not being used - get a fresh
download from the makers site, or go to
Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager
find the video card in Display Adapters, double click, and on the Driver
page click Roll back driver.

(You will then need to uncheck the entry in MSConfig before rebooting)
