Hi all,

Can anyone point me in the right direction for drivers for the follwing
devices? I am running XP.

Ethernet Controller
Mass Storage Controller
Multimedia Audio Controller
Multimedia Controller
SM Bus Controller.

We have been experiencing some odd and varying problems with this
computer and I have just noticed these drivers are not installed.
Hoping it will fix it.

That depends on the computer system and the devices. If they are retail
devices go to the device manufacturer's web site and get the latest. If
this is a computer from a large OEM like Dell go to their website. For
devices that are on the motherboard go to the motherboard manufacturer's
website.

Run Belarc Advisor to get a list of the devices and their source.

If all the hardware is on the motherboard, the CD with the motherboard
drivers. SMbus controller is a direct install of such a driver install.
Sound, LAN, and mass storage may be under a different folder on the same CD
applicable to your operating system specifically. Most of these type CDs
are selfstarting upon insertion, and have clear menu of installation
selections.

If sound and/or LAN and/or mass storage controller are separate add-on
cards, not part of the motherboard, you must seek their identity and locate
appropriate driver software applicable to your operating system for each
one. The easy way to see if LAN and sound are add-on cards is to look at
the back of the PC in the card area. The mass storage controller may not
have any exterior visual presence cue, you may have to open the PC. Mass
storage controller covers alot of both onboard chipsets and add-on card
types including ide, scsi, raid, and sata. Windows is telling you it don't
know what it is, and gives it the generic term of mass storage controller.
