problem: On attempting shutdown, nothing at all appears to happen for a
prolonged period of time. Eventually, an "End Task" window appears, wanting
to terminate Devdlr

I have searched all over the net for a solution, including trying Creative's
suggestion to move the devdlr from windows32 to all users startup folder.
Nothing has worked.
I also have removed the driver as suggested, and tried to re-install
Creative's SBLAO5W.exe file. I get an error message saying it can't find my
sound board. So then I re-boot and it re-installs the xp sp2 driver from MS.
Problem still there wanting to terminate Devdlr.

Suggestions
please and thanks

Hi WES
I tried your alternative suggestion (Kellys-korner) as I had tried the MS
KB previously and had problems installing the Creative upgrade.
I logged on as another user in XP-where it was giving me the shutdown
problem before. It may have fixed it and will do some testing to see.
Thanks, and will let you and the group know if Kellys-korner fix works for
me.
