Windows 7 DevCon SetHwID

Hi
I need to change the hardware id for same of the NIC's, but I am not able to get it to work. need the correct device instance ID.

Can some please guide me with the parameters
devcon sethwid @ROOT\DEVICEX\0000 := +Hw1 Hw2

Hardware ID?

I don't think you can? Harware ID is hard coded into the chipset aint it?
Well depending specifically which ID you are talking about.

However, The MAC ID you can change - Or, at least mask to one of you're choice, if you do not want to use the manufacturer's preset one. I can only think of one reason for this though of which I will not go into on here!


AND that name looks familiar!!

Hi

What I meant was the NIC order ids (#7), so that nic 1 is #1, nic 2 is #2, and so on. windows seems to have changed the order during installation.
