Detecting if EWF is being used?

Can someone remind me how to detect the presence/status of the EWF?

It was the some command-line tool: ewf.exe?? possibly?

ewfmgr.exe
But you will have to add it to your image.

If you plan to change your image (e.g., to add ewfmgr.exe) and all you need is to have a visual way to check the EWF status, you may
be interested EwfTray component from www.xpefiles.com (make sure to use appropriate EwfTray component with XPe SP you've got). It
will show you an icon on SysTray (XP Notification area) indicating the EWF status on selected EWF protected volume.
