"Details" view

(I'm using Windows 2000 Version 5.0 (Service Pack 4).

===============================================

WINDOWS EXPLORER displays the files in "DETAILS" view but other applications
(like TextPad, Word, Excel, etc) displays the files in "LIST" view. I want
ALL applications to display the files in "DETAILS" view.

=============================================

In WINDOWS EXPLORER, I have:

1. done TOOLS/FOLDER OPTIONS/VIEW

2. unchecked "REMEMBER EACH FOLDER'S VIEW SETTINGS"

3. clicked "LIKE CURRENT FOLDER"

4. clicked "OK"

5. clicked "YES" on the pop-up box saying "Set all folders on your computer
to match the current folder's view settings (except for toolbars and
webview)? Changes will occur the next time you open them".

6. clicked "OK" on the "FOLDERS OPTONS" box

7. closed WINDOWS EXPLORER

8. started another application (like TEXTPAD, WORD, EXCEL, etc).

9. when I do FILE/OPEN, the files are displayed in "LIST" view (not
"DETAILS" view).

============================================

How do I get the "DETAILS" view to apply to ALL applications?

You are talking about the 'open file dialog' not the normal folder settings.

The top-right icon in the 'open file dialog' is the views. Click it & change
it to what you require.

The "Open File Dialog" box shows the available "views" (i.e., "List",
"Details", "Properties" and "Preview"). Currently, the "view" is
"List". But, I prefer "Details" which displays the file-names, sizes,
file-types, and last-modified dates.

I click on "Details" and then click on a file-name to open the file.

However, the next time I need to open a file, the "view" reverts to
"List".

How do I get the default view to ALWAYS be "Details"?
