Destination Folder Access Denied on Map Drives

Hi all

Found a very serious problem with vista and needs to be resolved, and have
spotted must of us are in the same boat. When trying to copy any file or
folder from a mapped network drive you to your vista box get the error
"Destination Folder Access Denied". However if you nagivate to that folder
using its full unc path i.e. \\fileserver\docs copying works fine. So anybody
on a network who gets their home directory mapped cannot copy files to their
machine. All permissions are correct and work fine on any other OS. Also when
you try and open a file that you havent created but have permission to open
that also gives you an error "Access Denied. Contact your administrator" This
again is a huge issue in a business when documents are shared.

P.S. I have turned of UAC completly using local policies. And i have tried
all this on several machines with it turned on and same issues.

Anyone Know the solution please help

I assume that I am doing what you say. I created a mapped drive, went
to the folder that I mapped, and tried to copy a file to Vista. On mine
it worked just fine.

I have seen some issues like this, and I solved them but not entirely
sure how. Also, I am on a LAN, not a domain, so maybe that is an issue.

I too am having this problem. However it doesn't happen with every file.
It can't even been linked to a particular file type (i.e. *.exe). I can copy
one *.exe file then try to copy another *.exe file from that same directory I
get a the "Destination Folder Access Denied".

I assume that the MS folks are aware of this, I just wish one of them would
tell us something, even it is just that they are a ware of the problem and
are working on it. Of course a solution would be preferred.

Ok I have just discovered something. My old computer is running Windows XP
Home. The properties->security tab of the files that I cannot copy says "You
do not have permission to view or edit this object's permission setting",
while the ones I can copy give me several options. The problem is I have no
idea how to set the permissions on the files on the Windows XP Home side.

Can anyone help with that?

Thanks,

Yet even more info. If I move the files (even the full directories) and move
them right back to where they were. I CAN the move the files across the
network to the new computer (running Vista).
